  • Resources & Tools

The C4D Ideation project is now closed. A huge thanks to the community for participating in this exercise, we received some great feedback on the challenges you face in building your communities on C4D. The challenges are grouped into the following themes: Registration, Member Management, Content Management and Functionality- Ease of Use.

Please note that items that will be fixed with the upcoming upgrade will be marked as  "fixed with upgrade"

Registration

  • fixed with upgrade (the visibility of the the invitees who have not completed the process and the resend functionality will be fixed with the upgrade).
  • We will raise this with Jive during the upgrade process, one thing that we could consider doing is to enable the Left Navigation, like on SPARK, to give users direct access to their notifications in the Inbox.

Member Management

  • fixed with upgrade (the visibility of the the invitees who have not completed the process and the resend functionality will be fixed with the upgrade).
  •   Member data. This is something that needs further research and we would need to discuss with Jive what type of data can be downloaded and by whom (some of the data, in the past, could only be accessed by platform administrators).

Content Management

  • This is the expected behavior of the Recent Content widget, one work around could be to use the Recent Activity instead, which would display the name of the Author more prominently and only indicate whether it has been edited.
  • Abilty to unmark content. We will report this as an issue to Jive, but my assumption is that this is expected behavior. There is a workaround to unmark a document, and this inlves marking it as Final and then editing it, which will remove the marking completely.
  • Moderation rights, concerning resetting usernames and passwords and posting on behalf of. Unfortunately this is not duable, because of the access to the platform that this would require: only platform administrators are able to perform those changes and adding users to the list of platform administrators (with unlimited control over the entire platform) would not be advisable. Moderation rights, in terms of beign able to edit content (even discussions) is something that we are exploring and implementing in a group whose owners need these rights to be able to add translations to comments.

Functionality - Ease of Use

Customizations

Issues

  • Reply to a share. This might be an issue and it should be reported to Jive.
  • Filter/sort content. This looks like a bug in the system that needs to be reported to Jive.

Explorable

  • Outlook connection. This is something that we are exploring, but to make it fully available there are a few moving parts that need to converge in terms of: funding for the licenses, approval from OIS and the Outlook team (for the installation of the plugin on Outlook).
  • My Places and My Friends, this can be achived very easily, the only drawback would be that those links would not be automatically translated if someone is using a browser with a different language setting. To implement this we would need a wide agreement from the community managers.
  • Clean up the look and feel. This is also doable.
  • Email notification templates. This is something that needs further investigation. All of the templates can be edited, but there are limitations in terms of the keys that can be used (which would identify the group name for instance).
  • WB Staff log in and deep links. We will raise this issue during the upgrade process and see what can be done with the redirect. For what concerns redesigning the login process, this is something that might need customization, but in so far as the group is interested we could at least explore the redesigning of the Log in page (moving the WBG log in to a side or other tricks).
  • Log in to individual CoPs. This issue is linked to the deep links issue also raised in the idea above. We will raise it with Jive to see what can be done about it.
  • Unsubscribe from email. The links provided are great, and it looks like there are a few plugins that we could test in our development environment. Depending on the priority assigned to this, we can allocate technical team's time to explore this functionality.
  • Breadcrumbs. The new version of Jive has a new set of breadcrums that result more intuitive (see SPARK), maybe this might be able to address this issue. We can explore changing the theme to indicate that the top menu is related to the overall platform and I guess that a simplification of the theme in line with what Sally is proposing in her idea could help towards this.
  • Deactivating users. This can be changed, so that no-one is deactivated. The drawback would be that even accounts of people who have left the bank would be kept active.
  • Item tagged with. Sally is correct, this can be hidden through css on the group homepage. I would not explore a customization for this.
  • https://collaboration.worldbank.org/ideas/1160 Videos. Let's definitely explore this together and maybe other community managers might want to join (we could think about making this a crowdsourcing exercise).
  • Change the Link sign. We can inquire with Jive what the options are on this and we might be able to address this through the theme. There are a few discussions on this in the Jive community: (https://community.jivesoftware.com/ideas/4678) (https://community.jivesoftware.com/ideas/2574)(https://community.jivesoftware.com/message/101769#101769)

Fixed with the Upgrade

  • Uploading images. The issue with uploading images in the Formatted Text widget should be fixed with the upgrade. For what concerns the Avatar, if there are issues around this we might need to report them to Jive (with screenshots and unexpected behavior). In terms of the photo album, an option already should exist to upload a zip file (a folder with all the images, zipped), which the system would then unzip and upload all the images in one go.
