Do you have questions for the New C4D Transition Team?
Background:The New C4D Demo and Discussion #2 with C4D Community Managers and C4D Transition Team will be held April 26, from 9:30 am - 11 am EDT – GMT -04:00 hours, a World Bank Group Headquarters in the J Building, in Room J 4-044, Washington, DC. A WebEx Link is also available for colleagues who can not attend this Face 2 Face Meeting.Contact: Bruce Summers, bsummers@worldbank.org
As announced earlier - Adobe Experience Managers (AEM)/Adobe Communities has been selected as the new C4D Platform. World Bank - Active and Pipeline C4D Communities will transition to the new Platform between now and the end of May. The Current C4D (Jive based) Platform will be retired on June 30, 2018.
So: this is a new open forum for your questions related to the New C4D Transition.
Action requested:
Kindly reply/comment - with any questions or suggestions you have for the New C4D Transition Team?
Example from Noellie Dadehys GahI am part of the current lead team for the African Mining Legislation Atlas project and am available at N.GAH@AFDB.ORG and +22577598280. We are currently running a training for some participants.
Q1: Does the transition implies any shut down of C4D? if so, when will it start and for how long?
Related from Bruce:
Q2: Since the African Mining Legislation Atlas project is located on a "Project"/subgroup page to the Global Forum for Law, Justice and Development (GFLJD) Group - how will it transition onto the new platform?
Does the software automatically translate text from posts and comments or give the option?
How many languages does it translate from/to?
Can we tag after content has been created? Or do we have to tag before? How can we search documents under a certain tag?
Is there a way we can keep our old pages for a bit longer, given that this transition will happen at the end of the FY and summer when many will be traveling? I forsee a situation where some members (even active ones) will feel rushed to switch. Will they have to create new accounts? This will require a marketing, organizing and planning effort on the part of CMs to ensure we do not lose membership.
from Charlene:
The translation only works on comments and blogs, correct?
Can you categorize documents? For example, with hashtags?
Are some of these "sample" communities available for teams start reviewing so we can get a hands-on sense of this new platform?
Another Q: What is the degree of customization possible on this new platform? Are we still able to create organized links and sub-groups within a community?
Question: When you say "content migration" - does that include metadata like the tags?
Main question remaining from me is degree of customization possible on Adobe communities (graphics, page organization, subgroups also, etc.)
Hi Emilia, I would like to know about the transition: would the previous info (documents, conversations, etc.) be moved authomatically to the new platform? how about the members? Should they register again? Many thanks
I got 2 questions. Can we have access to C4D archived sites after the transition (in case content or functionalities are missing on the new site)?
From all:
it would be great to get some concrete dates so that we can plan ahead.
Emilia Galiano - Here are some quick answers (I will share the video recording also, when available):
TRANSLATION: The platform does translate automatically, but this needs to be set at the profile level (in other words, you need to indicate your preferred language). The group owner can decide, at the time of group creation, whether translation should be available for content and pages. Right now translation is available for 6 languages (official WBG languages) in the future there will be 31 languages available.
TAGS: tags can be added after a document is created.
FOLDERS: content can be organized in folders/subfolders.
TIMELINE: C4D on Jive will be shut down in June (no way to extend), but the content and groups should all be transitioned by the end of May. The teams will work with IT to define their switch date, at which point users will be automatically redirected to the new page (domain/URL will remain the same). All content, tags, and users will be transitioned, for active groups. Users will need to reset their password. We will work with the IT team to get communications templates for Community Mangers to use with their members.
UPLOADED Documents: the IT team is working on customizing how this functionality works, so what we have seen is not the final product.
PLATFORM: the IT team is still working on the finishing touches of the new platform. They will start to work with some pilot communities over the next couple of weeks and then they will start to transition all active communities.
We need to learn more about the timeline of the process and also the tools available to community managers to both administer, customize, and track their group.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone (but especially Emilia and Bruce) involved in organizing and contributing to the success of this platform transformation. Several of the questions submitted were on my mind, so I very much appreciated their submission. As I learned with UNHCR during change processes, staff and participant buy-in are key to the success and speed of responding to change afterwards.
For me, I would like to encourage all users of this C4D platform to put in some quality time consulting with members of your groups to develop appropriate answers to Bruce's queries: Re: what's needed:
More concrete dates and suggested actions community managers need to take so the can plan ahead. Example when will people reach out to them re: next steps for specific communities, or to make needed adjustments after their content and members are transitioned to the new site.
Community Managers (Toolkit) actions they should be able to take need to be better defined and refined vs. actions only the Site-wide Platform Administrators can take. Example: click one tab to start - "Send an email to all CoP Members"; or One click to get to the Manage/Members or the "Reports/Analytics" tools.
Community Managers need intuitive access to - tools / widgets for designing the layout and Member Engagement features of the CoP.
We need to determine - Governance Process re: who can request vs. create communities.
We may need to schedule a work session with the Central CoP Team and the C4D Transition Team - re: configuration.
We may also need to work together to develop some test scripts and scenarios for Pilot Testing.
Question: Where do we go for questions or support for the New C4D Transition Process?
Good news:
There is a new There is a Yammer Group called Transitioning C4D - World Bank Staff can post questions on this site and get progress updates on the transition to the New C4D Platform.
There is a dedicated - Web CMS team to support Community Managers throughout the process New C4D Transition Process, and to help with communication and training every step of the way.
The HRLDS (Central Collaboration and CoP Support Team) is partnering with the ITS New C4D Transition Team to support the transition to the New C4D Platform.
As stated previously, you can also ask questions, share concerns, tips, challenges, and what works great on the Collab4Dev Community Managers Roundtable
If you need access to the Roundtable, then please contact Bruce Summers.

Hi all, here are my questions:
Data transfer to the new platform:
Do we lose any data?
All files we’ve uploaded will transfer over with their tags, dates uploaded etc?
Are there inputs on our side for this data transition? Does it require us to re-upload or sort anything?
We have a unique widget: I’d like to confirm how we can work with the programing team to ensure it will be transferred? Currently the widget is not particularly user-friendly. I’d really appreciate being able to test it on the new platform and be able to request small changes.
Our CoP’s value add is the feed (akin to the facebook feed of chronological posts) of recent posts, filled with the latest news and events. When it is transitioned, will a user be able to scroll back through activity that was posted on the last platform? Or will they not be able to scroll down through past activity? Or will only posts made on the new platform show up in the feed?
Communicating the transition:
Is it expected that we will handle when and what we tell our members? Are there any templates available? Most importantly, a timeline I can reference?
Please clarify the period of time where we need to be posting on both platforms.
Will there be any feature like “take a tour” as a user logs-on to the new platform for the first time?
If users need to reset their passwords, will an email be automatically sent to them to do so or will CoP managers be expected to ensure this happens?
External pilot participants
The feedback process: where do I submit changes required as I test the new site?
Can I confirm that all Yammer communications will be sent to me by email instead?
Features of the CoP
Is it a given that all features found on the current platform will be present in the new platform? I ask this because I gather that there has been a revision features that will take prominence on the new site. For example, blog posting will be a more prominent feature. If so, I’d like to ensure all the features that our CoP relies on and use most regularly are understood. Who can I talk to about that?
Furthermore, how much flexibility will we have to rearrange where features are found, rearranging the home page etc.

Hello to all my colleagues, It has been a few happy moments for me (180 hours along the river - a very long, curving riverbank in very rural, isolated locations. I would be happy to undertake a trip to the region where I can help almost a million people to return by 2030. Thank you for everyone interested in being part of this challenge...
Thank you very much for the updates on C4D Transition. As we are managing 2 C4D communities from a country office in Marseille, France ("Host Municipalities Network" and "Med Water Youth Network"), we would very much appreciate being able to attend a Webex Publishing training session at CET business hours.
Thank you very much in advance for your support in scheduling such a session. Best wishes,
Sara
